The 49th State Brewing Co started out in the Alaskan interior where Jason Motyka had once been a guide on the Nenana river in Denali and David McCarthy settled during his motorcycle trip through Alaska. Over the years, the 49th State – Denali has hosted a multitude of musicians in the massive beer garden surrounded by the Alaska Range. The annual Augtoberfest, for example, has certainly made it’s mark on the list of Alaskan beer and music festivals. One thing is certain, the 49th believes in enjoying the beauty of Alaska with a craft beer in hand and a foot-stompin’ band on stage. The latest formulation of this tenant is found in the Blackwater Brew Cruise on August 26th. Live music from Blackwater Railroad, a cruise from Whittier, AK into beautiful Blackstone Bay, home to tidewater glaciers and abundant wildlife, and a special release from the 49th State of their Blackwater Railroad “Skinny and Pale Ale” makes this the ideal way to wrap up your summer in Alaska.
Like good moonshine, this folk-rock group was formed in a dark basement, in the middle of winter, and consistently delivers warm, cheery evenings. “In almost three years, Blackwater Railroad Company has become one of the hottest names on the Alaska music scene..” says the Fairbanks News Miner. Blackwater Railroad and the 49th State are becoming a popular pairing. They played on the rooftop of the 49th State’s downtown Anchorage location to crowds on the street at 3rd and G at the Bluegrass Skirt Luau. Blackwater is headlining Friday night of Augtoberfest 2017 in Denali (Click for full line-up and tickets) on August 11-12th.
Try the Blackwater Railroad Skinny & Pale Ale. This is a crushable pale ale you can knock back while stompin’ your feet to the beat of Blackwater Railroad. We use huge portions of Mosaic and Cascade cryo hops providing orange, pineapple, and mango fruit alongside a healthy does of New Zealand Nelson Sauvin hops lending melon gooseberry, and white grape so you’ll be juiced on the dance floor.
